Rugby, Wheyhey and a world record attempt!

What a weekend! On Saturday wheyhey headed down to the amazing Honourable Artillery Company ground in London to support our friend Barty Hills and the Flair Bears in their Rugby seven’s event to raise money for Brainstrust!

We joined Jack Wills, Zaini, Bounce Life, Intrepid Events, Cocopro and 250 supporters to cheer on what turned out to be an epic game of Rugby.

The celebrity line up was made up of; Duncan Falconer, Rory Lawson, Josh Patterson, Ben Coomber, Tom Mitchell, Tom Weston-Jones, Cameron Cowell, Charlie Walker, Ben Botica, The Turner Twins and Mel Deane! Quite a line up!

Although the Flair Bears battled hard and led for much of the game, it was an unsuspected try, made by the strong combination of England Sevens Captain Tom Mitchell and his team mate Cameron Cowell that won the game… and shattered the dreams of 300 Flair Bear fans!

Following the final whistle, we all took to the pitch in a Guinness world record attempt to complete the biggest Flair Bear Dance (LINK) ever… forget the cha cha slide, the whip nae-nae and the macarena.

The day was all in aid of raising money for a fantastic cause. In 2007 Barty Hills (Danger Bear) was diagnosed with a benign meningioma (brain tumour). He had to have an immediate craniotomy due to the size of the tumour, where the surgeons were able to debulk it, but not remove it completely. Since his recovery, Danger Bear set up the Flair Bears: a fun and exciting invitational rugby team, that competes in various tournaments to help raise awareness for brain tumours, and specifically Brainstrust and the work they do.
