World Cancer day!

A whopping 1 in 2 people born after 1960 in the UK will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime but, with the life changing advances in research over the last 40 years, survival has doubled. Today, 2 in 4 people survive their cancer for at least 10 years! Unfortunately Cancer touches everyone within their lifetime, if not directly through a family or friend… So let’s beat it together!

You may be thinking what does Ice cream have to do with World Cancer day? Well here is a story you may not know about us…

The guys (Greg and Damien) have always wanted Wheyhey to play a healthy part in peoples lives. So what better way to establish that then get an NHS trial at the Royal Free Hospital on the oncology ward!

Wheyhey was given out for a month to Cancer recovery patients who require protein. We all know hospital food hasn’t got the best reputation so we wanted to bring some joy. Protein is vital in the recovery of cancer patients. It helps to keep your strength up and immune system functioning. A high protein diet also helps with the repair of muscle tissue lost. Cancer effects appetite and even the taste and texture of food so Ice cream is a perfect way to get protein into the diet in an easy to consume format.

Being able to bring some joy into the hospital was amazing and was a real achievement and one of our proudest to date!
